Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I’m not sure what windows I need?

Simply call Chesapeake Window. A specialist will visit your home, evaluate your existing windows and conditions, and recommend the most practical and cost-effective solution for your project. There is no need to stress over measurements or specs—we will even provide your window measurements at no extra charge so you can compare and shop with confidence.

Does Chesapeake Window provide installation services?

Yes. Chesapeake Window installs windows throughout Hampton Roads and select areas of Northeastern North Carolina. Our experienced professional installers, based in the Chesapeake and Virginia Beach area, can handle virtually any type of window installation.

Can I buy windows and install them myself?

Yes. Chesapeake Window can either deliver your windows to your jobsite or arrange for you to pick them up from our local warehouse if you prefer to handle your own installation (standard delivery fees apply). This is a great option for contractors and handy homeowners who want to manage the install themselves while still benefiting from quality products.

What is Low E glass and why is it important?

Low E glass is engineered to improve year-round energy efficiency in your home. A thin, invisible metallic coating on the glass helps filter solar radiation, reducing heat gain in the summer and reflecting warmth back into your home in the winter.

What does Argon gas do in my windows?

Argon gas increases the insulating performance of your window’s glass unit. Because Argon is heavier and more stable than regular air, it reduces convection and thermal movement between the panes, helping keep indoor temperatures more consistent.

Why choose vinyl windows?

Modern vinyl windows offer strong performance, low maintenance, and attractive styling at a budget-friendly cost. Vinyl does not shrink, swell, or warp in harsh weather, and it provides excellent energy efficiency without the frequent painting or staining required by some other materials.

What is the difference between single hung and double hung windows?

On a double hung window, both sashes move: each sash can be raised or lowered and both can tilt inward for easy cleaning from inside the home. On a single hung window, the top sash is fixed in place, while only the bottom sash operates and tilts in for cleaning.
